Dr Deborah Lancastle speaks about the stress of infertility treatment

September 29, 2014

Dr Deborah Lancastle Dr Deborah Lancastle was a guest speaker this week at the scientific meeting of the South Wales and South West Infertility group (sponsored by Merck Serono).

Deborah spoke to specialists from fertility clinics in these regions about supporting patients during the waiting period in fertility treatment.

She said: “There is a great deal of evidence showing that those undergoing infertility treatment can experience anxiety and distress as they progress through treatment. The days when patients wait to find out if treatment has been successful is one of the most stressful times of the whole treatment cycle. I appreciated having the opportunity to talk to doctors, nurses, and embryologists involved in patient care because it allowed me to explain about the demands on patients and about some simple strategies that may help women at this time”
